HEALTH AND WELLNESS PROGRAM

This program is designed to educate the Latino Community on the diseases to which we are predisposed and what we can do to prevent and manage them by taking care of our diet, exercise regime, and mental health for longer, healthier lives.

Health Fairs

Centro’s Community Resources department partners with trusted local institutions to host quarterly health fairs. These events are free and open to the entire community, and feature access to primary care, mammograms, vaccines and information about resources available to the Latino Community. Centro staff is also present to offer free blood pressure or glucose checks to anyone who needs them!

GET VACCINATED!

This is an ongoing campaign designed to provide secure and trustworthy information to the Latino Community regarding COVID-19 and flu vaccines. By providing education, information, and access, we hope to support the Latinos of East Tennessee (regardless of migratory or health insurance status) in staying up-to-date with vaccines and helping to prevent the spread of disease. Centro’s Health Promoter hosts monthly Facebook lives sharing updates on these topics and more, plus tips for accessing local resources related to COVID-19 like vaccines, test kits, and methods of prevention.

MOBILITY MENTORSHIP

Centro Hispano is currently working with the Department of Human Services, United Way, Knoxville Urban League, Boys & Girls Club of Knoxville, the YMCA and the YWCA to help low-income families grow beyond their vulnerabilities. Our Mobility Mentor is trained in the EMPath Model and will use the Bridge to Self-Sufficiency to provide families with coaching and help them plan, reach, and sustain their goals in five essential areas: family stability, well-being, education and training, financial management, and employment and career management.
